About THE Secret Walled Vineyard
Our Story
The Secret Walled Vineyard is exactly that, hidden within our Victorian walled garden, this delightful little garden vineyard bursting with Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon & Muscadet grapes has been providing wine to the past owners for decades.
As the new custodians we are setting about restoring the gardens & vineyard back to their original splendour. Over the past few years we have been using the original wine maker to produce the most delicious White & Rosé wine from our grapes.
And here is where our community wine project begins .. neighbours with garden vines donated their grapes to our harvest and last year we received over 500kg of grapes and have made a delicious wine aptly named ‘Vicinity’ as they have been made from grapes in our vicinity
Our aim is to make vineyard quality wine from grapes grown in our community gardens, for the community to enjoy.
How IT WORKS ...
Get Involved ...
If you have vines in your garden or allotment and each year your delicious grapes go to waste, get in touch with us and add your grapes to our harvest where we will turn your grapes into a refreshing bottle of White & Rosé wine for you to enjoy.
Tend your vines
December to March – Prune your vines back hard, this is vital to maximize your yields
March – September – Love your vines, sing to them, care for them lightly trim and de-leaf as the season passes
Harvest
September/ October – Depending on how the weather has been throughout the year, will depend when the harvest will take place.
Once we get the thumbs up from our wine maker, it’s time for you to harvest all your juicy grapes and drop them off at the Secret Walled Vineyard for us to weigh in and load up for their journey to the wine makers where they will be pressed and bottled.
Collection
May – The wine maker will have worked his magic creating a delicious White & Rosé wine blended from your grapes for your enjoyment.
